£7m Hartlepool development gets go ahead.

A £7 million homes and leisure development has been given approval by Hartlepool Borough Council, in a move which is set to provide a massive boost to the town.

The scheme, which will intially create 30 jobs at the Mayfair Centre site in Seaton Carew will include a mini golf course, children’s play areas and air domes with sports facilities.

244 Persimmon Homes will also be built on site in partnership with the scheme developer, Brian Morton.

Mr Morton has been working on the scheme for the past year, and believes that it will provide Hartlepool with some of the best facilities in the North East.

He commented: “This a massive boost for Hartlepool and will be a great development for the town, and air domes in particular are spectacular and will provide some much-needed all weather sports facilities which have not existed before.

“It’s a great investment in the town and hopefully when complete will be something for Hartlepool to be rightly proud of.”

He went on to praise Hartlepool Borough Council for the unwavering support they have offered to the scheme. The council’s Planning Committee have already agreed to the plans, which means that work can start almost immediately.

Mr Morton continued: “Our aim is to have the full leisure complex open by July 20 to coincide with the start of the Olympics,” said Mr Morton.

“There’s no better time than to showcase the amazing new sporting facilities that we are going to have in Hartlepool.”
