Corrosion Managers increase North East presence
A national corrosion management firm is increasing its presence in the North East to support the region’s flourishing oil and gas industry.
Strategic Corrosion Management (SCM) already has facilities in East Anglia and Gwent, and will now open a new development, support and training base in Blyth, Northumberland to provide clients with its suite of corrosion mitigaton and control services.
With 12 staff in the UK, plus a consultancy support network of 12 diverse Corrosion Specialists and an Engineer pool of more than 60, SCM supports the long-term integrity of off and onshore oil & gas installations, chemical process plants and manufacturing facilities.
Company director Ian Cordingley is already from the North East, and believes that the region is a natural choice for the firms new operations as it is embedded into the UK and international energy and chemical sectors.
He commented: “In addition the region has excellent supply chain links with Aberdeen, which is also a key location for our clients.
“We have applied our corrosion management solutions to assets operated by companies including Shell, Centrica, Conoco, BP, Maersk and Total, which has enabled SCM to establish an enviable reputation across industry.
“With our new operation we aim to build upon our previous success to further integrate ourselves into Oil & Gas and Chemical industry supply chains out of North East England.”
SCM is an expert provider of corrosion management and control, corrosion prevention techniques including coatings selection, insulation and passive fire protection and has been serving clients in the North Sea, Europe, Far and Middle East, Africa and the Americas for more than 30 years.
Its management systems are currently deployed on more than 80 facilities with at least 300 Client assets having deployed the SCM technologies on past projects.
