Tyneside Cinema launches young production company
The Tyneside Cinema has launched a new film production company of 16-19 year-olds from its media training academy.
Northern Stars Production has already won the business of corporate clients including Procter & Gamble, law firm Ward Hadaway and the Heritage Lottery Fund, with further partnerships to be announced over coming weeks.
The company, run by a team of young creatives and backed by highly-experienced production professionals, has received support from legendary film director Sir Ridley Scott.
Ian Fenton, Director of Northern Stars said: “We offer a professional production service to clients in the North East and beyond to achieve their commercial and brand objectives.
“At the same time, Northern Stars Production is a unique proposition that will benefit North East business, the North East film industry and the region’s most exciting new talents.
“Not only have our clients received a first-rate production service, they have also had the opportunity to boost their corporate social responsibility credentials. We expect several more high-profile companies to follow suit over the coming months.”
Northern Stars will initially focus on corporate production and advertising markets, developing target multiplatform opportunities across factual television, virals and drama.
Gillian Hardy, Community Matters Co-ordinator, Procter & Gamble said: “Working with Northern stars has been fantastic.
“The outstanding film was delivered on-time and they have captured everything that we discussed in the brief. I would certainly recommend working with these guys and girls.”
The venture has spun-out of Northern Stars Young Filmmakers Academy, Tyneside Cinema’s award-winning media training academy for young filmmakers in the North East.
Graduates of the academy develop commercial and creative skills under the guidance of award-winning TV, film and interactive media writer and director Ian Fenton.
The scheme is free for anyone with genuine talent, irrespective of means, and aims to provide for the most promising young talent in the North East.
