Sintons offer vital advice to EEIF members
A Newcastle Law Firm has joined forces with the Energy and Environmental Industries Forum to address the challenges and opportunities facing the sector as it grows.
At an event, entitled ‘Legal Issues in the energy and environment sector’, Sintons LLP will look at the latest regulatory and legislative changes in the industry. Specific issues up for discussion will comprise of environmental, health and safety and fire risk issues.
Speakers will include Mark Quigley and Matt Collen, both of whom are partners at Sintons. Mark frequently represents companies facing enforcement action by regulators, while Matt specialises in corporate finance, often advising on banking and finance transactions, insolvency and probate equity.
Nikki Silcock, director at the EEIF, said: “Given the scale, complexity and in some cases cost of many projects and businesses operating in these industries, the regulatory challenges they face are considerable.
“We’re delighted to be able to give our members an opportunity to speak with experts in this field from Sintons who will provide valuable insights into the latest issues and challenges.”
Ian Hughes, managing director of Green Dragon in North Tyneside will also be speaking at the event. Green Dragon specialise in tailor made safety, environment and fire risk solutions for businesses.
Karen Simms, partner and head of the Energy, Renewables and Resources sector group at Sintons hopes that the seminar on March 21 will give businesses operating in the area an inside track on some of the latest regulatory and legislative issues which could affect them.
She added: “The North East is already becoming a leading region for companies in the energy and environmental sector. We have good natural assets, a developing infrastructure and the right knowledge and skills to be very successful.
“At the same time, the challenges we face in growing the industry, from both a financial and regulatory position, are not insignificant.
The EEIF was established to act as the voice of the North East low carbon environmental goods and services industries.
