4041 provide boost to get youngsters into construction

A new commercial venture has been launched in North Tyneside to help more young people into the construction and property industries.

4041 will employ young people in a number of maintenance trades, including plumbing and heating services, electrical, bricklaying, joinery, painting and decorating.

With the current challenging economic climate many of the region’s construction companies have been forced to lay off staff and with that, comes the loss of sector skills as experienced tradesmen find work elsewhere.

It is hoped that the venture will help many of the regions construction companies withstand the current financial climate, whilst also building skills in the region.

4041 are now committed to working with businesses previously affected by the downturn who have secured new work, but don’t yet have the confidence to create full time permanent jobs.

Project manager Katie Moody believes that the initiative will help to retain skilled individuals in the construction and property maintenance sector.

She said: “We currently have a chicken and egg situation whereby young people need to find work but without experience that task is more difficult. 4041 offers a cost effective supply and recruitment service for other employers who need a part-skilled worker.

“By appointing a young person from 4041 significant training costs will have been saved and that person is able to make a positive contribution from day one.

“ Apart from assisting employers to get projects completed on time, taking on a 4041 employee will provide the satisfaction of knowing they have both helped a young person with career progression and played a part in retaining the skills within the region.“
