Crafted & Co Compose a Masterpiece

The team at Gateshead-based bespoke joinery company Crafted & Co have been ‘working like dogs’ to create a stunning, one-off coffee table for iconic Beatles-themed hotel, the Hard Days Night in Liverpool.

Crafted & Co’s expert craftsmen were commissioned by the hotel to design and build a unique coffee table for the luxurious McCartney suite, after the previous table became unusable. In-keeping with the Beatles theme and the suite’s namesake, Crafted & Co used stunning American walnut to hand carve a table in the shape of Sir Paul McCartney’s guitar headstock.

Finished with an inlaid panel of smoked glass bearing guitar strings and the hotel name, the coffee table perfectly complements its opulent surroundings and the suite’s iconic history. Mike Dewey, General Manager of the Hard Days Night Hotel is delighted with the result and commented: “The McCartney suite is such a distinctive space that we felt it really deserved a centrepiece which would honour the unique heritage and design. We knew that Crafted & Co would produce something special and we certainly weren’t disappointed – I think Sir Paul would be more than proud to own the table himself!”

With over 50 years of experience producing beautiful, bespoke furniture, this project is a fantastic addition to the team’s portfolio. Ken Smith, Managing Director of Crafted & Co explains: “As a Beatles fan myself, this was a great opportunity to pay homage to a musical legend using our expertise and specialist skills. It’s not often that we are given such an open design brief, so it was an exciting challenge and opportunity for my team fronted by Michael Morritt, our Production Director, to create something outside of the ordinary that was both creative and at the same time, hardwearing. The team are absolutely delighted with the finished result; it’s not only a work of art but also quite literally reflects the hotel’s theme and Sir Paul McCartney’s passion for music.”

Crafted & Co already has a strong client base for which they have created a range of handmade furniture and woodwork. These include, Nandos and Inventive Leisure Ltd for its bar chain Revolution and J D Wetherspoon.

Inspired by the UK’s most successful band of all time, the Hard Days Night Hotel is a four-star, boutique venue situated in the heart of Liverpool; close to the city’s best shops, bars, restaurants and of course some of the most famous Beatles landmarks. Each of the hotel’s ‘fab four’ themed rooms are individually designed around the contours of the original building and elegantly furnished with unique Beatles-inspired artwork adorning the walls.
