Komatsu hold biggest European launch

Construction equipment manufacturer, Komatsu UK Ltd have have held their biggest European product launch in Birtley.

Over 750 customers from 19 countries descended on the North East to see the range of new low emission machines.

Komatsu’s Birtley facility was showcased to European customers who were given a taste of the North East including a lunch at Lumley Castle and overnight stay at the new Jurys Inn hotel in Gateshead.

Peter Howe, said: “As this is the largest product launch that has taken place in Europe, we are immensely proud that we were able to hold the event at our site, especially as this year we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary since the official opening of the company in 1987 by HRH the Prince of Wales.

“So, in many respects, the launch is also a tribute to all the staff who have contributed so well to the plant over those years.

“It was great to welcome so many important customers, who not only viewed our new products and our manufacturing facilities, but also got a chance to test drive the new machines.

“During these difficult economic times, we were also delighted the local economy benefited from the influx of such a large number of influential people.

“To launch our new range of machines we were keen to bring customers to our site to help us to establish a closer connection with the people that are key to our business.

“For over 90 years, Komatsu has led the industry in the development of innovative technologies. Innovation has always been at the core of Komatsu’s DNA. By listening to customers and understanding their operational needs, Komatsu has created an extensive range of construction equipment machines providing engineering solutions and products which are unique and unrivalled.

“I am confident our new products will be well received in the European Market, which will bring long term benefits to our business.”
