Humber offshore wind opportunities promoted to Danish firms

Humber Local Enterprise Partnership and four local companies have travelled to Copenhagen to promote the benefits of the area for offshore wind.

Visiting the European Wind Energy Association annual conference and exhibition, the delegation participated in a programme of meetings and events.

ABP, Able UK, Danbrit Shipping and Wind Power Support gave a briefing about the Humber to a group of 60 Danish companies involved in offshore wind at the UK Offshore Wind Leadership Forum 2012.

Delegates heard about the growing Operations & Maintenance Centre at Grimsby, the proposals for Green Port Hull and the Able Marine Energy Park, and the incentives on offer to investors through the LEPs enterprise zones.

Richard Kendall, Manager of the Humber LEP, led the delegation, and said: “This was an important opportunity to highlight the world-class offer the Humber has for offshore wind and the scale of the land and incentives available to investors.

“The feedback from the companies we met was excellent, so there are some interesting conversations to follow up on over the next few months.”
