Management buy-out by Investment experts
Two North East financial managers have committed some of their own funds to complete a management buy-out and launch a new brand for their business.
For over two decades, Richard Blackett and Kevin Walker worked for RMT Financial Management, investing over £150 million on behalf of clients based mainly in the North East.
The pair have now taken control of the firm, which they have renamed Blackett Walker, and are aiming to become the leading independent wealth management company in the region.
Describing the change, Richard said: “It’s the same people – just different suits, and this will allow us to continue expanding the business and meet demand for our services beyond our existing client base.
“We have an excellent team of people supporting us and we believe that this change is a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved.”
Kevin added: “Other than the change of ownership and name, everything else in the company stays the same.
“Clients’ investment plans remain unaltered and we will continue to be completely independent, without ties to any particular funds or companies.
“The financial services landscape is continually evolving and with the Retail Distribution Review just around the corner, we believe this change makes us ideally placed to take advantage of the situation.”
Blackett Walker will continue to operate from offices at Gosforth Park Avenue.
