Just the job for J&B
J & B RECYCLING has been thanked for its role in helping to restore an historic farmhouse into a valued community resource.
Regeneration and housing company Coast & Country renovated the 18thcentury Westfield Farm at Dormanstown near Redcar, to create a range of much-needed opportunities and facilities to help local residents find work.
J & B Recycling contributed towards the project and processed more than 150 tonnes of waste during the transformation.
Iain Sim, Chief Executive of Coast & Country, said: “The transformation of Westfield Farm has been achieved thanks to the generosity of local companies such as J & B Recycling that have supported the scheme by providing materials, workers or services.
“We are grateful to these partners who have helped Coast & Country drive this project from drawing board to reality.”
The Grade II listed cottage and farm buildings now feature training and meeting rooms, community gardens, allotments, a residents’ resource centre and a base from which Coast & Country will deliver a range of employment and work opportunity programmes.
Westfield Farm was opened by Channel 4’s Fairy Jobmother Hayley Taylor who helps motivate people to find work.
J & B Recycling recycles approximately 100,000 tonnes of waste each year from household, commercial, industrial and construction sources. It has worked with Coast & Country for several years managing waste from property maintenance and clearance projects as well as new housing schemes.
All of the waste is processed at J & B’s facility at Warrenby near Redcar, where up to 95% of materials collected are recycled.
Mark Penny, Commercial Manager at J & B Recycling, said: “The Westfield Farm renovation is an amazing project that will provide many benefits to the local community.
“With it being such an old building, there was a lot of waste that needed to be collected – more than 150 tonnes during the renovation. Providing our services brought savings in excess of £5,000 over the term of the project.”
