Newcastle College to open new Energy Academy tomorrow
Tomorrow will see the official opening of Newcastle College’s Energy Academy, a keynote event that is bringing together employers and stakeholders from a wide spectrum of the energy sector to celebrate the achievement of this cross regional collaboration between the college, major employers, local authorities and Sector Skills Councils.
The opening will showcase how employers can access a much needed training facility that will help them to train, recruit and retain highly skilled workers. A key role for the centre will be the provision of higher level skills and specialist training that meets the needs of regional employers in the energy sector.
Attendees will hear from:
-Tim Yeo MP President of the Renewable Energy Association (REA) and Chair of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee.
Tim will address the audience on his view of the political landscape for energy policy over the next 5 years, his work on the Select Committee and his new role at the REA and how the REA supports industry.
-Walt Patterson independent international analyst and writer on energy and environment.
Walt will be sharing his vision for future energy systems and his belief we urgently need to upgrade to Energy 2.0: new skills, new business models and a new way of thinking - a challenge and an opportunity!
Located on the north bank of the Tyne, delegates will be given a tour of the facility as well as the opportunity to speak to fellow industry professionals, college staff and to quiz our speakers in more depth.
