Esh Construction win community property award
Esh Construction has won the Community Benefit Award at The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Annual Pro Yorkshire Awards.
The firm built The Graves Trust Woodland Discovery Centre in Sheffield, which won the award for outstanding achievement in providing a facility which the local community.
Judges considered the level of community involvement, who uses the centre, and its long-term prospects.
The Centre works to promote Sheffield’s woodlands and natural heritage, as wood was used sustainably in the construction of the building and its heating.
Chris Walker, Divisional Director of Esh Build, part of Esh Construction, who heads up the Leeds-based operations explained: “We are very proud to have been recognised for our work on this prestigious project.
“With a turnover of around £150m, Esh Construction is one of the largest homegrown building and civil engineering contractors in the North of England.
“A hallmark of our culture is our reputation as a caring organisation. For us, benefitting communities through our work and bringing ‘Added Value’ is a priority.
“Some call this ‘corporate social responsibility’; we see it as an important part of the day job.”
The RICS awards recognise how property professionals use their skills to develop, regenerate and conserve the environment.
