Legal eagles bank on move into town

A Northumberland law firm has bucked the trend of lawyers moving into big city premises by relocating its main offices into the heart of a Northumberland market town.

Solicitors, Whitehead and Low have been firmly established in Blyth since 2004 and provide employment, commercial, business and family advice to clients throughout the UK. Now however, the rapid growth of the business together with the addition of new staff and the need for better client facilities has prompted the firm to seek new premises in nearby Bedlington.

Headed up by experienced lawyer, John Whitehead and supported by senior partner and employment law expert, Ben Healey, the move comes at a time when the firm has become more commercially focused with their growing clientele of small to medium sized businesses seeking a local solicitor giving good advice without having to pay city prices.

The firm have moved into a prominent Grade Two listed building (formerly Barclays Bank) on the town’s High Street which has enough room for the firm to expand even further in the future.

The move coincides with the appointment of employment lawyer Paul Humble, who is also a practising part time employment judge sitting in the Manchester area. He previously worked for a specialist employment law firm in Yorkshire and had his own practice in the North East. The firm have also had to take on additional administration and legal staff to manage the increase in workload and to provide continuity into the future, John has also recently appointed 20-year-old Jordan Bagnall as a business administration apprentice.

“Our clients are based all over the North East and further afield and don’t need to pay city prices for our expertise and quality of service,” said John. “It makes perfect sense for Whitehead and Low to relocate into Bedlington as the town is being redeveloped and more and more businesses are moving in as well as new housing and retail developments. It really is the best place for our firm and our clients.”
