Mac’s Rant -The phones have stopped ringing
Over the last few months I have had several, sorry many conversations with business people who are concerned about the lack of new customers and orders. The top three phrases I have heard are
- “The phones have stopped ringing and clients just aren’t calling me anymore”
- “I have never had to chase new customers before they just came to me”
- “I don’t know what to do next as my orders have dried up”
It seems to be more common in this current economic climate but it shouldn’t be an excuse.
We all have two choices to make if business is not fighting its way to our door. One choice is we do nothing at all and just sit tight and ride through the storm. The other choice is to do something about it and walk towards the sun.
I would rather get burnt trying something than die slowly and painfully sitting on my arse.
If nothing is happening and sales aren’t coming in like they use to in the good old days do something about it.
Get ready for the world’s longest sentence! You can do many things to improve your business, improve your sales skills by reading books about the subject, book on a sales training course, pick the phone up and ring your old customers and ask them is there anything else you could be offering them, go meet people at a networking event, go to a business show and talk to anyone you meet, plan develop and execute a new sales campaign, look at your sales message, do something but don’t sit on your arse and tell everyone business is tough.
Business is tough but if we don’t do anything it is going to get tougher
If you are one of the people whose phone has stopped ringing here is something free for you to get started. I said free but you still have to do one small thing, can you do that?
