Gateshead firm’s new appointment underpins Scotland expansion

Gateshead-based industrial services firm Pyeroy has boosted its senior management team with the appointment of a new director for its North East of Scotland operations.

John Welsh joins as regional director based at Pyeroy’s Aberdeen office, which opened early this year and is already going from strength to strength. Various customers both on and offshore are now using the services of Pyeroy in Aberdeen.

He brings to the post almost 40 years’ experience in the multi-discipline specialist industrial services market sector.

Pyeroy is targeting a number of new sectors for strategic growth over the next few years and he will oversee a team providing access systems, insulation, asbestos removal, industrial cleaning and industrial painting among other services.

His primary task will be to head up Pyeroy’s North East of Scotland operations as it pushes forward in support of key customers in the marine, oil and gas, power generation and manufacturing sectors requiring added value through-life maintenance, industrial refurbishment and de-commissioning services.

The Pyeroy Group is based in Gateshead and employs over 1,200 people working on industrial, construction and marine projects throughout the UK and Ireland.

Hugh Pelham, managing director, said: “We are investing in talented, resourceful and skilled people as we expand, who are helping to extend our national reach and capabilities.

“John is very experienced and will provide a strategic lead for our Aberdeen-based business, ensuring project and ongoing contract work is carried out to the highest standards.”

Pyeroy provides a range of industrial services, which comprise contract scaffolding and equipment hire, surface preparation and application of marine/industrial protective coatings, insulation, civil engineering and building works and environmental management services such as asbestos removal.
