Linden Homes launches sustainability drive with foundation
Leading housebuilder, Linden Homes, has launched a new sustainability drive designed to support the local community, the people living there and the local environment.
The Linden Homes Foundation has been created by the company to ensure the wider benefits of its developments can be felt through the communities in which it works.
Here in the north east, Linden Homes is developing quality family homes in Haltwhistle and Howden-Le-Wear in County Durham.
Through the Foundation, the company pledges to invest time and money in an array of local activities whose benefits could be felt even before plans are drawn up, and beyond when the last property is sold.
By offering assistance in three key areas: people and customers; environment and sustainability; and communities, Linden Homes is taking a national lead in pushing for sensitive and sustainable development that goes beyond traditional attitudes.
The Foundation will encourage its own employees, as well as contractors and local people to get involved and underpin Linden Homes’ commitment to bring wider benefits to the places where it secures new housing.
For example, apprenticeships will be offered to local youngsters to leave a legacy of skills once the builders have left, old habitats reinvigorated to attract back wildlife, and organisations given a helping hand to grow and thrive.
Stuart Gibbons, managing director, said: “Among the greatest challenges we face as a business is to ensure our developments have wide reaching benefits which can be felt long after the homes we build have been sold. That’s why we’ve launched a formal commitment under the Linden Homes Foundation banner, which demonstrates our commitment to our own employees, local people, our customers and the environment.”
The Linden Homes Foundation projects will be publicised via the website www.lindenhomes.co.uk/thefoundation to demonstrate its progress around the country and show how central the philosophy is to Linden Homes.
