PwC donate suits to homeless jobseekers

Staff at PwC in Newcastle have joined forces with NE1 and Newcastle Fashion Week to donate their old suits to a charity for the homeless.

The old clothes will be given to the Cyrenians, who will use them as part of a campaign to help disadvantaged and homeless job seekers return to work.

Supporting the community is a key priority for PwC, and the firm has a number of activities planned to support local causes.

Mark Menton, assurance director and community affairs leader for the North East said: “I am delighted with the response to the Suit Amnesty campaign which has been generously supported by staff in Newcastle.

The Suit Amnesty campaign fits well with our objective to deliver help in the area of employability and we hope to be able to make a real difference to those that need it most. “

Val Nevin, assistant director at the Cyrenians added: “The Suit Amnesty is a brilliant scheme – and complements perfectly The Cyrenians employability programme.

“ ‘Self confidence’ is very personal - a feeling someone has when they know everything, for them, is just right. We can help our clients prepare in lots of ways for employment and being well presented is a really important part of that.

“So having access to quality business clothes is a godsend. We at The Cyrenians would like to thank PwC staff for their generous donations and they can be assured their donations will pay dividends.”
