Tees Valley is “open for business”
The Tees Valley is “open for business”, is the message being promoted by a group of housing and regeneration companies at the Chartered Institute of Housing Annual Conference and Housing Exhibition.
Vela, Coast & Country, Fabrick and North Star and Tees Valley Unlimited, the Local Enterprise Partnership for Tees Valley will be promoting facts about the area, including recent good news on jobs and the return of the steel industry; the development of new sectors including renewables and digital; and the quality of life and achievements of local people.
Commenting on the initiative, Cath Purdy, Vela Group Chief Executive, said: “Tees Valley will have a strong presence at the Chartered Institute of Housing conference this year because we have an important message.
“The hard work of local people has led to some remarkable turnarounds and emerging opportunities, not least the magnificent return of steel-making to the beam mill at Redcar.”
The event brings the whole of the housing sector together – not for profit, local authority, private sector, commercial partners and suppliers – in one place to learn, improve and influence.
About 10,000 people are expected to attend the three day event taking place in Manchester from 12 – 14 June.
She added: “We are also expecting significant investment of about £30m in the local housing sector during the next three years.
“It is money that will enhance the quality of housing on offer and support people in difficult circumstances during a time of great economic change.
“Our message will be relentlessly positive, demonstrating that Tees Valley is a place that is open for business and eager to build on existing successes.”
