British Airways’ designers fly into Newcastle

Peter Cooke, Design Lead at British Airways, and Richard Stevens, Director of forpeople design agency, are visiting Northumbria University’s School of Design to talk about how design has transformed the BA journey experience, and the essential role that design has to play in business.

REVEAL: Come Fly With Us is taking place on Wednesday 20th June, 5.30pm-7.00pm at Northumbria University’s City Campus East.

Between them Peter and Richard are responsible for revolutionising the British Airways journey experience, including the design of the airline’s new First Class cabins; and are now pushing the boundaries with the help of Northumbria University students.

Peter and Richard will be talking about how they have managed to transform the BA brand, and the benefits of putting Design first in business. forpeople have worked together with British Airways’ design experts on every aspect of the new First experience. Since 2005, they have been responsible for the overall creative direction of First including all aspects of the brand, product and service elements. forpeople are now retained by the airline as Global lead design agency.

Design is about doing the right thing for the right reasons. It isn’t about decoration. It’s about striving to anticipate the best answer to a real customer need, in a way that works for the business and the world around us. It starts with how people feel, think and do.
