Pub wins over 13,000 pints for summer celebrations

The Bell at Kesgrave, Ipswich has won a dray of beer equating to more than 13,000 pints in a competition ran by Punch Taverns. The Summer of Our Lives Competition was launched to encourage licensees to to plan for this summers never to be repeated events.

Debbie and Sam McCallum, who saw off almost 5,000 other competitors have already held Jubilee themed events including Right Royal Karaoke, Jubilee Big Lunch and Bring Your Own Boat Regatta. A coach trip to watch Debbie carry the Olympic flame followed by a drink or two is the next big event to be hosted by the pub.

The owners of the Bell were awarded the prize for their enthusiasm in their summer plans for every event over the summer. David Hawbrook of ABV Training told the Morning Advertiser: “They are very positive people and recognise the need to put something on to encourage people to visit and stay at the Bell.”

Judges of the competition commended the Coach and Horses at Kibworth, Leicester for turning their pub into a boat for the Jubilee celebrations.

Punch Taverns hope that all of their pubs will continue with their efforts to encourage customers to visit their pubs throughout the Euros, Olympics and beyond.
