IiP Champion success for Your Homes Newcastle

Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) has been awarded with the prestigious title of Investors in People Champion, acknowledging their commitment to improving performance through people.

With over 900 employees, YHN now joins other Champions based across the North of England in promoting and supporting Investors in People through best practice activities.

To become an Investors in People Champion all applicants must hold Investors in People Gold accreditation, an accolade the organisation achieved in March 2012. The Champions scheme recognises and rewards organisations who have been outstanding in promoting the values and principles of Investors in People, leading by example in the way they manage and develop their people.

By achieving Champion status, Your Homes Newcastle is committed to sharing and also learning from their experiences, encouraging the dissemination of good practice in people management and supporting continuous improvement.

Celebrating their success, John Lee, Chief Executive said:

“As a major employer in the region, YHN is thrilled to be one of the organisations representing the North East as an Investors in People Champion. This accolade is testament to the strong team we have working for us, whose commitment to making YHN one of the best housing providers in the North East is second to none.”

Chris Jones, Head of Operations at idg the Investors in People Centre for the North of England said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for Your Homes Newcastle and I would like to congratulate the team on their commitment to continuous improvement leading to Champion status. As the Investors in People Centre for the North of England, idg is committed to working with organisations to improve, develop and grow. By offering a flexible, practical and easy to use framework, Investors in People is designed to help organisations and their people enhance performance and meet goals. By becoming a Champion, Your Homes Newcastle is certainly working to do this and committed to helping other organisations realise the same benefits through their experiences.”

An Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO), Your Homes Newcastle was set up in 2004 to manage council properties, carry out investment in housing to meet the Government’s decent homes standard and also to provide various other services for Newcastle City Council.

YHN currently manages approximately 29,400 tenanted and 1,450 leasehold properties and were also awarded 3 stars by the audit commission in 2008.
