A leading North East hotel has been named a Charity Hero after lending its support to a fundraising bike ride across theUK.
The DoubleTree byHiltonNewcastleInternationalAirporthotel, located yards from the airport terminal, was given the title after opening its doors for free to nine cyclists undertaking a 450 mile fundraising ride fromEdinburghtoLondon.
With support from independent initiative Ride2Raise, which manages charity cycling events across theUK, the group hope to raise more than £18,000 for Missing People, helping fund the search for missing children and adults across the country and support the families they?ve left behind.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle International Airport hotel, which provided free food and accommodation, was the group?s first port of call on their gruelling five-day journey from Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh to Richmond Park in south west London, which will also see them travelling through York, Nottingham and Milton Keynes.
The hotel, which opened yards from the airport terminal in November, was presented with a Charity Hero award by Ride2Raise in recognition of its generosity and support for their cause.
