Deloitte North West seek entrepreneurs views
Deloitte in the North West has opened its annual survey of UK entrepreneurs, looking at current attitudes, performance and business objectives.
Entrepreneurship UK last year found the Government was relying on private business growth to drive out of recession, however UK commercial culture was failing the back entrepreneurial business; business growth was thought to be held back by cautious banks; and Government appeared to be supporting start-ups, while growth-orientated medium sized businesses still bore the greatest tax and regulartory burden.
Mark Adlestone, chairman of North West-based jeweller Beaverbrooks, called on the bosses of entrepreneurial companies across the region to share their views via the survey.
He said: “Entrepreneurial businesses are vital to the future of the UK economy. They are responsible for creating thousands of jobs every year and can grow into the innovative, large corporates of tomorrow.
“For that to continue to happen, we need to ensure that our views are reported back to those who make business policy.
“I know from speaking to peers that they have concerns, ranging from taxes to excessive regulation. The Entrepreneurship UK survey is a chance to share those opinions.”
Helen Clayton, director in Deloitte’s North West Entrepreneurial Business team, said: “When we conducted our survey in 2011, over 90% of our respondents anticipated revenue growth in 2012.
“The results of our 2012 survey will show whether entrepreneurs have been able to buck the gloomy trend of the UK economy and spearhead positive growth in these uncertain times.”
The results of the survey will be analysed by Deloitte and the London Business School, and a report will be published in early October.
Two entrepreneurs, James Sommerville of Attik and Paul Lindsey of Ella’s Kitchen, will provide their views on the results, and will also sit on a panel with Keith Willey of London Business School and Deloitte’s chief economist Ian Stewart, at a launch in October.
