Apprentice finalists launches crowd funding bid

One of the Apprentice finalists has launched a £14,500 funding bid for the Whisk online shopping business on a crowd funding website.

Nick Holzherr plans to put the funding he raises in Peoplefund.it towards building a new App for Whisk to enable access to the online recipie, food and shopping site on as many platforms as possible, including iPhone, androids, tablets and other devices.

Whisk is an online service which brings together online recipes and shopping to allow users to purchase ingredients for recipes. The app cleverly interprets recipes, creating a shopping list and adding the list into the basket of the user’s online supermarket of choice.

“We’re really excited about doing a fund-raising bid on peoplefund.it for our new App,” said Nick. “It will allow people to take Whisk them to the supermarket to make their lives even easier. Doing it with peoplefund.it makes perfect sense as it’s about getting people to get behind great ideas.”

Peoplefund.it is a crowdfunding website that enables people with a great business idea to ask the general public for the funding they need to set up or expand.

The business sets a target for the money it wants to raise and explains how it will use the cash. People can then make pledges for small amounts of money in return for a ‘reward’ if the target is reached.

Peoplefund.it, launched by KEO digital, the makers of River Cottage, Fish Fight and energyshare, has raised £40k in 6 days for The Bicycle Academy, thought to be the UK’s fastest crowdfunded project ever.

Other successful projects to date include fresh food ideas such as the Food Cycle Station House Community Café which cooks up tasty three course meals from perfectly edible food that is being disposed of as well as a new form of eco compost, Oxford Biochar.
