Second reading of House of Lords reform bill
Next week will see the second reading of the House of Lords Reform Bill.
The House of Commons will hold the second reading on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th July 2012.
A reform of the House of Lords was the manifesto commitment for all three of the main parties during the 2010 general election and was included in the Coalition Agreement between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
The key areas of the reform would be to give most members non-renewable 15 year terms, the use of a single transferable vote system for Northern Ireland and members pay and allowances being set by the IPSA with pay related to the participation of the Member in the work of the House.
