Farmers protest against milk price cut
Dairy farmers from across the UK have protested at Westminster against planned cuts.
Farmers say they could lose thousands of pounds a year due to a 2p-a-litre drop in the price they get from four leading dairy processors.
The National Farmers Union (NFU) say an average dairy farmer, with about 150-200 cows, could lose around £37,000 in revenue.
Farmers who supply Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s or Teso would not be affected by the cuts because they are paid directly by supermarkets.
