Business network ‘The Curry Club’ reaches 50th event

A relaxed networking opportunity known as ‘The Curry Club’ is holding its 50th event next Thursday in Teesside.

The Curry Club was started by Dave Wilson, Managing Director of NEmoney, in 2009 as an easy way for people in business to be able to network.

“The Curry Club was set up as an informal non-membership networking opportunity,” says Wilson.

The easy going format, which includes having a lunchtime meal, has the same routine every month and no upfront payments which means that each Curry Club has been able to grow and expand throughout the North East.

“We’ve just launched a Curry club in Teesside because there is lack of networking opportunities in the area. There is not much that is regular in the region,” says Wilson.

Business workers throughout the area are very positive about the event and the effect it has on building contacts.

Marion Reed, Regional Fundraising Manager for Arthritis Research UK is complementary about the format for the event.

“I would recommend the Curry Club as a place to do business. I love the informality of the meeting, when you arrive, it’s straight in there introducing yourself to prospective supportives. It has a great mix of businesses and the conversations are always lively and productive. I do lots of networking and find the Curry Club one of the best groups for making contact with some top decision makers of business in the North East.”

Janet Fay, Managing Director at Coversure Insurance Services Newcastle thinks that the relaxed nature helps to build connections.

“David invited me to curry club some time ago. I eventually had time to visit and was pleasantly surprised at the relaxed networking and great contacts to be made there. Food is great too! I have done business as a direct result of attendance there and made some good contacts for the future,” says Fay.

The Curry Club will be held in Teesside on the third Thursday of every month and in Newcastle on the first Thursday of every month.
