300 jobs created by North East care provider
North East care provider Ladhar Group Care Homes is set to create more than 300 jobs in the region.
As part of an expansion and rebranding move, the firm has secured planning permission for five new care centres, and will rename itself Crown Care.
The firm is looking for more sites in the region, and to expand into the Midlands, North West, South and Scotland.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ladhar Group, Baldev Ladhar, whose headquarters are in Newcastle, said quality would be at the centre of everything they do.
“We are proud of the service we provide at our existing homes but we are now in a position to expand significantly,” he said.
“We want our Crown Care centres to be recognised as being part of the wider community. What our staff and we are really passionate about is that those people who come to live or spend some time with us, get the care, attention and lifestyle they deserve.
“That’s what drives us on. The number of staff roughly equates to the number of beds in each
home and so we are also delighted in these difficult economic times to be creating more than 300 jobs.”
This week, the company has opened the Buckingham; a purpose-built 72-bed home in Penistone, near Barnsley.
The Buckingham’s intermediate care unit provides 15 beds – 10 of which are contracted to the NHS and Barnsley Social Services –for respite, rehabilitation and short-term care.
It will take urgent care referrals, with support from visiting specialists in occupational therapy, physiotherapy and nursing care as well as providing accommodation for respite care -giving temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside their own homes.
Each of the spacious rooms in the main home is en-suite with showers and some have their own patio area while the communal areas give it the feel of a home from home hotel.
Mr Ladhar added: “We are determined to ensure our homes meet the highest standards possible in terms of the facilities and care we provide.”
Crown Care started as Ladhar Care homes in 1989 and is part of the Ladhar Group, which also operates three homes in Northumberland for adults with learning disabilities under the brand of Flexible Support Options.
Flexible Support Options is one of the leading providers in the UK for Supported Living for individuals with learning disabilities.
The Group was founded by Baldev and his brother Amarijit, who now run the Group with their sons Michael and Barry.
The Ladhar Family own and operate a diverse portfolio including a large leisure division, running, pubs, nightclubs and cafes in Newcastle city centre and locations throughout the UK.
The Ladhar Group employs a total of over 2,500 staff with a turnover of over £70m last year.
