St Helens Council first to retain gold status
St Helens Council has become the first local authority in the North of England to retain its Investors in People (IIP) Gold status.
Gold accreditation is the highest level of achievement for the IIP framework, which recognises excellence in people management. It was first awarded to the council in 2009 and assessors have revealed that the council has retained the prestigious accolade.
The Council was assessed against 196 evidence requirements – gaining Gold for 190 of them – the Council’s highest ever achievement.
Assessors praised the council for its inspirational leadership who were good role models; loyal staff despite the challenging times of public sector cuts in budgets and jobs, good management with staff clear about their roles; core values and social responsibility being well understood and for its reduction in sickness levels.
Council Leader Marie Rimmer said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the continued hard work of staff who deliver excellent services in what are very challenging conditions. At a time of unprecedented cuts to our budget staff are to commended for their commitment in very difficult circumstances and their loyalty to the council and the people it serves.
“We will continue to strive to maintain and improve on these figures to remain a top rated council.”
