Succorfish part of world famous Mongol Rally 2012
Advanced Succorfish tracking technology is playing a part in this year’s world famous Mongol Rally after the North Shields-based company teamed up with UK entrants, The Khannonball Run Team.
Succorfish has sponsored and supplied the team, consisting of Luke Bisby, Stefan Kahrmann and Craig Warren from the University of Edinburgh, with advanced vehicle tracking equipment and GPS technology so that followers of the race can monitor the team’s progress from the starting point in London to the finish line in Mongolia.
The race, which started in London on Saturday 14th July 2012 and is considered the world’s largest charity rally, consists of approximately 300 teams, or 880 entrants, who complete over 10,000 miles across some of the world’s most remote and challenging terrain.
Teams will travel through 17 countries including Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan before reaching the finish line in Ulaanbaartar, Mongolia.?
And, to make it more difficult, vehicles are limited to an engine size of approx 1.0 litres.
The race is expected to take approximately 4-5 weeks and the Khannonball Run team is hoping to raise in excess of £5k for charities including The Scottish Association for Mental Health and the race’s official charity, The Lotus Children’s Centre in Mongolia.
