Manchester builds on export performance

The Greater Manchester LEP has praised the work of the city’s UKTI office, for helping the city deliver stronger export results on last year.

Export goods to the value of £26.6m came from the city during the first quarter of 2012-13; representing 35.6% of all UKTI-supported exports from the North West in Q1.

Total exports by 838 businesses mean more than 50% of last year’s annual total was delivered in the first three months of the current financial year.

Mike Blackburn, chairman of the GMLEP, said: “These are really encouraging figures. To have surpassed 50% of the 2011-12 total within the first three months of the financial year shows the momentum of business activity.”

“The UKTI team in Manchester plays a key role in assisting business to trade internationally and works closely with partner organisations like MIDAS and Marketing Manchester to promote company activity and the city to the world.”
