Renewable Energy Systems puts down North East roots

Global renewable energy developer, RES, has reaffirmed its commitment to the North East by securing formal office space in Team Valley.

A lease of around 3,000 sq ft has been taken on the first floor at Maingate, Gateshead, in a move advised by the team at JK Property Consultants, who were instructed to find a more permanent base for the 14 RES staff who have been operating from the region since 2008.

The new offices are double the size of the service office accommodation in which staff was previously housed. The development forms part of RES’s planned future expansion as the need to adopt sustainable energy grows.

Andy Butler, UK Facilities Manager, RES, said: “JK Property Consultants provided us with invaluable advice on finding and securing our new office at Team Valley. The team provided us with an end to end solution starting with research on the area and used their local knowledge and expertise to shortlist a number of office spaces. They provided considerable advice and assistance on contract negotiations, which resulted in RES securing high quality premises.

“RES has had a presence at Team Valley for some time and as our business interests are located in the area, we were committed to finding a long term office space that met the needs of our engineering and construction staff. We now have 14 people in our new Team Valley offices and the size and flexibility of the premises mean we can serve the North East from a more permanent base and the office space we have taken leaves us room for expansion in the future.”

JK Property Consultant’s principal, Kevan Carrick, added: “Renewable energy is a key growth sector for the North East so it is fantastic that a world leader like RES is setting down real roots in the region.

“We had a specific brief to find long term accommodation for the RES team and worked hard to find the right venue and negotiate the keenest costs. We secured a long-term lease as well as real incentives for taking the lease, repair and fit out. It’s been a great result all round.”
