Team expansion helps put AtlasIM on the map

A surge of new business wins has led to cloud computing specialist Atlas Infrastructure Management (AtlasIM) expanding its team.

Launched in summer 2011, the pay-as-you-go cloud service provided by the Newcastle technology company has proved so popular, three new employees have been taken on to manage client demand.

The business has made particular in-roads into the recruitment, property and environmental sectors, which traditionally have staff at different locations or on the road and requiring secure server access at all times. Other businesses have come on board attracted by the scalability of the system and the cost savings offered.

Operations manager Julie Griffiths has joined AtlasIM from Merck Sharp & Dohme, where she was supply chain co-ordinator. She brings a strong background in logistics and supply chain management.

Working alongside her is systems engineer John Haswell, a Microsoft certified IT professional, who has certifications across a wide variety of systems. John’s key responsibility is to oversee AtlasIM’s technical teams.

Alasdair Upton is the third new recruit and joined as systems administrator after studying Business Information Technology at Northumbria University.

Pete Watson, AtlasIM’s business development director, commented: “A strong IT infrastructure is critical to a successful business and organisations are starting to recognise that cloud computing is the future, particularly where multiple locations are concerned and / or flexible working is offered.

“This and the fact we take away the need for large investments into IT hardware, has meant we have seen a real shift towards the services we provide, leading to new contracts and a need for additional team members.

“Julie, John and Alasdair are all extremely good at what they do and, like the management team, all share a desire to provide the very best customer service. They are critical to AtlasIM’s ongoing success and are already playing a critical role in helping us achieve our goal of being a leading player in the cloud computing sector nationally.”
