Durham’s Evening Market Returns
Following the enormous success of Durham City’s first ever Evening Market in July 2012, it has been confirmed that the Evening Market will make a definitive return to the city centre on the final Thursday of the month in September, October and November 2012 from 3-8pm.
Stalls will be provided with set-up from 2pm and will cost £25 each. Market Place entertainment will also be provided, varying each month. Space is limited to 25 traders. Applications are invited from suitable traders excluding any hot food take away enquiries.
Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Markets, says:
“The aim of the Evening Market is to provide a natural link between the close of the daytime economy and the start of the night-time economy in Durham. Usually the streets are very quiet after half past five, so it was wonderful to see so many people turn out for the first Evening Market, making a real evening of it. Many people commented on what an excellent atmosphere it was, with people of all ages coming into town to browse the stalls, watch the entertainment and enjoy a good time together.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support of the public in venturing into this new evening market and would encourage traders to come and join with us as we embark on this exciting new era for independent retail in Durham.”
