Al Forno restaurant to expand to Darlington
Middlesbrough-based restaurant Al Forno is set for expansion following the acquisition of Darlington’s Marco Polo restaurant.
The Italian eaterie – on the town’s Skinnergate - will open its doors in the autumn following a significant investment and refurbishment programme.
Al Forno owners Liam Percy and AJ Erdal Kuzgun are aiming to bring the same reputation for high quality, locally sourced fresh food to Darlington which has made their Middlesbrough restaurant such a success.
AJ said: “We have had a fantastic few years at Al Forno in Middlesbrough and now we have the opportunity to repeat that formula in Darlington. The new restaurant is something we are very excited about.
“What has built success in Middlesbrough is our focus on a quality food offering at sensible prices and with great customer service. We also like to do things differently, such as our jazz nights or gourmet evenings where diners can enjoy a five-course menu and complimentary wines.”
The new Al Forno restaurant in Darlington will boast a seating area for 150 diners with similar décor to the Middlesbrough branch as well as a private dining room to cater for weddings, birthdays and corporate functions. The owners expect to complete the refurbishment and rebranding this month ahead of opening in the early autumn.
AJ added: “We are very excited about the opening of Al Forno Darlington. It’s down to the support and loyalty of our customers over the years which has allowed us to reinvest and expand the business.
“The new Al Forno will enhance the existing restaurant offering in Darlington and provide people with a greater choice of places to eat and drink.”
