Blacksticks Blue is a Taste of Perfection

The cheese show season is well under way, and one local artisan producer is celebrating not only winning a raft of awards but also having it’s quirky amber-hued blue cheese declared to be ‘perfection’!

Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses celebrated eight wins at the Garstang show this weekend, taking home the Reserve Champion title for its Trotter Hill Tasty Lancashire, along with three silver and three bronze medals. However it was Blacksticks Blue which in addition to winning a gold medal in its category was also described by judge Terry Hudson as ‘perfection’.

These awards mean that the Inglewhite dairy has improved on last year’s seven medal haul at Garstang and comes hot on the heels of taking 29 medals at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich last week.

Gill Hall, third generation cheese maker at Butlers said of the awards:
“These award wins are testament to the skill and care everyone at the dairy puts into crafting our cheeses. We are having a great year so far, having taken home 29 awards from the International Cheese Awards at the end of July and 11 awards from the Great Ecclestone show.”
