Law firm Addleshaw Goddard lose 24 fee earners

Manchester-based law firm Addleshaw Goddard have made 24 redundancies, confirmed today in the second round of lost roles in little over 12 months.

In June the firm announced that the 24 fees earners were at risk of losing their jobs and nine staff were also lost in April this year.

Addleshaw Goddard’s redundancies affected all three of its bases in the UK, including Manchester, Leeds and London.

Despite recently opening a Singapore office and the announcement of partner profits of £450, 000 up 37%, the company put the job loss down to a rebalancing of the business.

The firm attributed the cuts to a low natural attrition which saw the number of fee earners rise to cause an unbalanced model.

Paul Devitt, Managing partner at Addleshaw Goddard, commented: “We took the difficult decision, having previously avoided a fee earner redundancy programme, to rebalance the shape and size of our front-line fee earner resource to ensure that it is a better fit for our business and more appropriately supports our long-term strength and competitiveness.
