Last call for entries to prestigious awards

Time is fast running out for entries to one of the region’s most hotly anticipated awards ceremonies, which celebrates the North East’s best women in business.

There is now just a matter of days remaining for entries into the prestigious North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

The annual awards, now in their 13thyear, recognise women from a wide range of sectors who have built success through their determination, leadership skills and ability to adapt and innovate.

This year’s awards will have a special focus on the themes of competitiveness and winning, to reflect on what has been one of the most memorable sporting summers in recent years.

The final deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday, September 7th, with an awards evening to follow at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton Hotel on Friday, November 2nd.

Nickie Gott, founder of events management company She’s Gott It! and chair of WIN Limited, which organises the annual North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, said: “The awards are a hugely important date in the North East calendar as they celebrate our region’s inspirational female success stories.

“We want to encourage as many North East women entrepreneurs as possible to enter these fantastic awards and take advantage of the opportunity to be recognised for their achievements.”

Jacqui Chapman, director of Spacecraft Events Ltd, which is a former winner – and now sponsor – of the Best Creative Business category, said: “Spacecraft Events is proud to sponsor the Best Creative Business category of the 2012 WIN Awards.

“As a previous winner of this category, I understand the hard work, passion and determination you have to put in to succeed. With times being hard over the last few years, and still continuing, it is a fabulous night to celebrate and raise a glass to success.”

Among the impressive roster of winners at last year’s event was Janis Green, CEO of software firm Pebble, who received the Best Use of Technology title for her company’s supply of accounting applications to schools.

She said: “It was rewarding to be recognised and to know that what we are doing is noteworthy and award winning; we now have the confidence that comes from being judged by your peers and found to be worthy.”

“In terms of our customers and markets, it has made no difference. We continue to be innovative, customer led and dynamic and our growing market share is testament to that.”
