NE high risers top of their game

Darlington-based Stone Technical Services has secured a number of major industrial and heritage contracts across the North East thanks to its reputation as one of the leading high-level maintenance and repair companies in the UK.

Stone is one of the most highly-accredited businesses in its sector which has helped with its major growth, especially with industrial organisations across the North East.

The new contracts include lightning protection installation and general maintenance work at the Tyne Tunnel, surveys of a 90 meter incinerator stack at Fine Organics at Seal Sands on Teesside and chimney inspections at RFMD in Newton Aycliffe, OpSec in Washington and Shashun in Cramlington.

As well as the industrial contracts, thanks to its reputation in the heritage and conservation sectors, Stone has secured work with Newcastle City Council to carry out repairs to Elswick Cemetery- damaged by flooding, and at St Cuthbert’s Church in Blyth where masonry conservation and stone re-pointing, re-dressing and replacement is required.

Stone Technical Services, which recently announced the opening of its Edinburgh office, is one of the UK’s most accredited specialists and works with high profile industrial organisations such as INEOS Plant Utilities at Seal Sands, Teesside Power Station and Cummins.

In addition, the family-run business is the approved contractor managing lightning protection on St Paul’s Cathedral and works with housing associations, on historic structures, churches, war memorials, schools, offices and car parks as well as with councils, English Heritage, the National Trust, the NHS, British Waterways and Network Rail to carry out a range of maintenance, safety and conservation projects.

Darlington brothers, Dave and Grahame Stone, established Stone Technical Services in 1998 and now have offices in Edinburgh city centre, near Stockport in Cheshire, close to Piccadilly Circus in central London and Pinner in Middlesex, as well as their HQ on Kellaw Road in Darlington

Thanks to its growth, the company is planning to create a number of jobs to add to its 30 strong workforce.
