Leading figures debate future of Northeast green economy
A panel of business people will debate the future of the green economy for North East England at the forthcoming Big Eco Show, which will take place in Sunderland on 19 September.
The debate, which will take place from 3pm to 4pm at the Stadium of Light, will see the panel discuss how North East England will become the leading green economy across the UK and how to make this ambition become a reality.
The panel comprises small business owners working in the green sector as well as organisations that offer support and advice.
The Big Eco Show is being held by Daisy Green Media and Events Ltd and ClimateNE.Partners include: Bdaily business news network; Charge Your Car; the Environmental Academy; the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB); Potts Printers; and Tadea.
Jennifer Atkinson, ClimateNE, said: “North East England is the most dynamic and exciting entrepreneurial region in the UK, and undoubtedly is leading the way on identifying and exploiting the extensive opportunities that tackling and responding to climate change presents.
“The debate will bring together key people to debate the future of business in a low-carbon and climate resilient economy. Its main ambition is to be a positive and forward-thinking discussion providing and stimulating emerging thoughts and directions for future actions. We are keen to hear from businesses throughout the North East on their concerns and questions and urge them to contact us to submit questions for the debate panel to consider.”
The Big Eco Show is an all-day event and will also feature an exhibition showcasing over 40 businesses; key note speakers; and informal networking sessions. Attendees will also get the opportunity to test drive electric vehicles.
Nicola Alexander, Daisy Green, said: “We decided to hold this large-scale event to bring together and celebrate our ambitious, diverse and thriving business community who are contributing to our growing low-carbon and climate resilient economy. “The Big Eco Show aims to do just that as well as sharing knowledge and experience, and providing advice, information and inspiration for others.”
The panel will comprise: Trai Anfield, Enlightened Media; Rita Callander, the Environmental Academy; Darius Campbell, Government’s Climate Ready programme; Colin Heron, Zero
Carbon Futures; Adrian Hilton, ClimateNE; Gordon Hudson, Sustainable Building at Northumbria University; Alan Jones, Tadea; Tony Mullarkey, Potts Printers (UK); and Ted Salmon, The
Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). It will be chaired by Phil Young of EnviroEnergy Systems Ltd.
The debate will be filmed and streamed online by the Bdaily network.
