LETTINGS AGENCY DIVERSIFIES AS IT REACHES FOURTH BIRTHDAY
A North East lettings agency is celebrating its fourth birthday by targeting further growth and success.
City centre based Fabulets, which was founded in 2008 by Vicki Hood after seeing a gap in the market for a “one stop lettings shop”, prides itself on finding its tenants the right home, and its landlords the right tenants.
Initially specialising in city centre apartments, Fabulets has growing portfolio which now covers Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, South Tyneside and North Tyneside, with a range of properties that includes apartments, flats and houses. It also offers clients a number of other services including cleaning and property maintenance.
Vicki, who lives in Washington with her husband and 18-year-old daughter, said: “Since I launched the business four years ago, the industry has definitely been through a challenging time. Many landlords were deciding to to sell up and withdraw from the rental market, so Fabulets had to diversify in order to respond to the difficult economic climate. We marketed a few properties for sale in order to help landlords who wanted to sell.
“I’ve really enjoyed seeing the business evolve from one which primarily specialised in luxury apartment living to our current offering which now includes student accommodation, family homes, commercial property and even parking space rental. I believe we’re stronger for it. The challenge now is to continue to move with the market and adapt as we need to, which will ensure we continue to grow over the next four years.”
Vicki started working in the property sector when she was 30 and enjoyed a successful career in various areas of the market for almost a decade. It was during this time that she decided to go it alone, believing customers had the right to a more flexible and focussed approach from a company which could meet all their needs, from their first viewing, to the day they get their keys and beyond.
The 42-year-old brought on board lettings negotiator David Reeson from Whickham, who is responsible for showing tenants around their prospective properties and supporting them until they move in, and together they’ve turned Fabulets into the business it is today.
Vicki added: “I can honestly say I’ve never looked back. Yes, it’s been hard work but I’ve really enjoyed the last four years and am excited about the future for Fabulets. For me, there’s no better feeling that helping someone find the property that’s right for them. It’s their home after all and that’s what drives me on every day.”
