Westray Recruitment Consultants’ Training Course a Success

This week saw the conclusion of the first of Westray’s training courses – with 11 local job seekers achieving a BTEC Level 2 certificate. The students spent two weeks developing a range of their skills including communication, team work, ICT and customer awareness.

Nicola Richards, a member of our training partners ‘Talent Training’ was full of praise for the students and congratulated them on their achievement; “When they first started two weeks ago, some were quite nervous and weren’t hugely comfortable in presenting to each other. They have come on leaps and bounds and they now seem to be much more confident in their abilities and I know they’d be an asset to any company.”

Richard Froggatt, Westray’s Operations Director, was also full of praise for those who attended the course; “We know that we’ve got thousands of people in the region who are currently out of work, and very keen to get back to employment. We were fortunate enough to meet a small pool of these individuals on our course and I am delighted that they have gained a qualification that will aid them in their job search. We will strive to get them into employment as soon as possible. For now, I would like to send our congratulations and thanks to Talent Training for providing an excellent course.

Jointly, it is our aim to get more people in the North East, currently having to claim unemployment benefits, back into work as soon as possible by combining the Talent Start programme with Westray’s Client network, through a series of free training courses. Research has revealed that there are some significant shortfalls in employability skills in the region. We are working with Talent Training to give people the opportunity to enhance their skill set to allow them to be work-ready and not just work-willing, making them a more attractive prospect to employers. Particularly for those interested in Warehousing, Call-centre and Customer Service occupations, a BTEC Level 2 Certificate could be gained by those attending the two-week programmes.
