Morgan Sindall secure £1.7m Cambridge deal

Construction firm Morgan Sindall has secured a £1.7m to develop 9,000 sq ft of commercial space in Cambridge.

An abandoned office space is set to be renovated by the company after it was appointed by developer Freshwater to transform a property in the centre of the city’s business district.

The site will be developed over three floors with a new entrance and the construction of a second floor terrace, which will look out over Cambridge University’s Botanical Gardens.

Morgan Sindall hope to complete the site, named 90 Hills Road, by Spring 2013 and add to their current list of completed projects in the city.

The building company has previously worked on developments at Botanic House and Three Crowns House, which was completed last summer.

Bob Ensch, area director for Morgan Sindall, says: “We are delighted to be appointed to our third scheme in the area and look forward to working alongside local subcontractors to deliver another high quality commercial office space.

“Morgan Sindall has extensive experience of working in busy urban locations and has a strong track-record in delivering first-rate results in commercial projects.

“We are confident that, once completed, 90 Hills Road will provide a prestigious corporate office building with an unbeatable location.”

High-specification work will be carried out, while restoration work will develop a new window system and office facilities.

Rob Sadler, director at Savills Cambridge, says: “90 Hills Road is a prime opportunity to acquire what will be cutting-edge office space in an unrivalled central location in the UK’s leading academic city.

“The speculative refurbishment demonstrates confidence in the Cambridge market which we continue to see bucking the national trend.”
