Archers Law adds to its team

Tees Valley law firm Archers Law continues to invest in its future by offering a full-time contract to a newly qualified solicitor.

Leah Duffield has joined the wills, probate and trusts team after completing a two-year trainee placement at the Stockton based firm.

The 26-year-old from Middlesbrough becomes the fourth trainee Archers Law has offered a professional contract to in recent years, securing their future careers as solicitors.

She said: “It was very clear when I joined Archers Law as a trainee that they are a firm that wants you to achieve your potential so you can become a real asset.

“I am delighted to have been offered a role within the wills, probate and trusts team because it is an area of law I am particularly interested in.”

Before starting her training contract with Archers Law, Leah spent three months in Texas working as a legal intern for a charity that advises and represents prisoners on death row.

Her work within the wills, probate and trusts unit at Archers Law – which is recommended in the Legal 500 – will see her specialise in the administration of estates, will writing and property issues that may include trusts and gifts.

Leah, who attended Hallgarth School in Middlesbrough, added: “My experience in Texas was a real eye-opener but helped to convince me that I wanted to practice law with a human element and my role at Archers Law offers that opportunity to work directly with our private clients.

“I particularly enjoy meeting and getting to know clients, gaining an understanding of their goals and expectations in seeking legal advice. It is a great satisfaction to meet those expectations and I am committed to being a member of this team.”

David Collier, Head of Wills, Probate and Trusts, said: “Leah has shown real enthusiasm and potential over the past two years, so we are delighted to offer her a permanent position where she can specialise in an area of law that she has a real interest in and aptitude for. Her new role complements the existing skills in the department and confirms our plans to develop the team.”

Archers’ other recent trainees who have graduated to qualified positions in the firm are David Adams, who is now an Associate within the Corporate and Commercial Unit; Lucy Adams, a solicitor in the Family Division; and Danielle Distefano, a solicitor in the Personal Injury Department.
