Livin and Southdale partnership to create new homes

North East home and communities organisation, livin has secured a deal with construction firm Southdale to build new homes across four sites in South Durham.

Darlington-based Southdale has started work on the new developments, which have a combined value of more than £3m. The contracts are part of livin’s £11.6m investment programme for new homes across the area, with completion expected in 2013.

Wayne Harris, executive director property and develop at livin, said: “Meeting housing demand for local communities is one of our main objectives and working with Southdale we can also help stimulate the local economy by providing employment and training opportunities locally.”

Trudie McCormick, Southdale’s North East regional director, said: “The homes we built in Baliol Road were our first for livin, so we are very pleased to continue our valued partnering relationship with livin on these four further contracts to help deliver their investment programme. We are looking forward to building upon our early work in South Durham and our growing relationship with livin.”

13 houses and two bungalows will be built in Fishburn, and a further three will be developed in Newton Aycliffe. Nine two, and three-bedroom houses will be built in Ferryhill, with a further six also in Newton Aycliffe.
