Mercian Labels offers support to UK Microbreweries

Staffordshire based Mercian Labels has capitalised on the recent craft beer revival by announcing an exciting new range of labels for UK microbreweries.

The market leading label manufacturer is now encouraging microbreweries to evaluate their existing branding to ensure it complies with the UK Government’s alcohol rules and regulations.

Under the Public Health Responsibility Deal, alcohol makers have agreed that product labels will contain three principle messages of health advisory information by December 2013.

These messages are alcohol unit content, sensible drinking guidelines and a warning about the effects of drinking alcohol during pregnancy.

Multiple beer companies are in the process of revising their product labelling, and many more are planning full redesigns, making this an ideal opportunity for Mercian to unveil their new range of pressure sensitive digitally printed brewery labels.

Dr Adrian Steele, Managing Director of the Mercian Labels Group, commented: “The upcoming legislation change has put a lot of pressure on UK breweries to alter their branding, and the deadline is only 13 months away. We have decided to take a proactive approach and introduce a new offering that will not only help these producers to change their branding, but also take advantage of our new digital printing services.

“Our new Xeikon 3300 digital labelling process gives the customer the opportunity to choose their preferred design from a number of options, without any additional printing plate charges. With our expertise on selecting features and finishes, we can ensure that the customer really benefits from this process.”

Mercian’s custom printed beer bottle labels are available with their standard three-day turnaround from artwork approval, based on a minimum order of £150.
