Yorkshire entrepreneurs launch Augusta Golf Tours

Three Yorkshire-based business men and golf enthusiasts have launched a new company to provide tours to the world-renowned Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, in the U.S.

John Radcliffe, chairman of John Radcliffe & Sons property development company, has joined forces with Andrew Witney and John Ambler, to set up Augusta Golf Tours.

Contracts were secured by the golf tour firm to bring more than 300 fans to the annual competition in America, after advice from law firm, Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley.

The tournament, which takes place at Augusta National Golf Club, was founded in 1934, and was won by American golfer Bubba Watson this year.

The $20,000-a-year club also recently announced its first two female members, former U.S secretary of state Condoleeza Rice and American business woman Darla Moore.

Tour packages for Augusta Golf Tours will be priced at £2,295 per person, after the firm took over from the company Go2 Augusta, which has now halted all trading.

Mr Radcliffe commented: “This new venture is an exciting, exclusive business opportunity.The Masters is arguably the most prestigious golf tournament and attracts the world’s top players.

“We plan to build the business, and the quality of experience we provide, by creating an even wider range of tailor-made packages.

“Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley advised us effectively in setting up this new venture and securing the necessary contracts with key suppliers in the US.”

The firm now has plans to expand its current workforce of four people to 20 staff at its UK base during the tournament.
