Top law firms merge in three-way deal

Anglo-American legal firm SNR Denton has announced plans for a three way merger that will combine with Canadian firm FMC and international firm, Salans, which has offices in London, Paris and Warsaw.

The merger will see the creation of law group based in London, but will have no official headquarters as the firm wishes to “fully embrace the diversity of its geography”.

In a complex deal, the three law firms hope to use their combined geographical reach to meet the demands of clients that require international relationships and “business-orientated” knowledge.

SNR Denton said its client base would be greatly extended, and would include both private and public corporations, funds, banks, insurance companies and government bodies.

The merged company, named Dentons, has plans to compete more effectively and significantly with established law firms at a global level.

SNR Dentons claimed that energy practices across four continents will be particularly strong, whilst the merger will also bolster its services in real estate and insurance.

The three companies will combine to become one of the top largest law firms in the world, with 79 locations in 52 countries and over 2,500 lawyers working in key business sectors.
