Local Community Invited to Charity Fundraising Open Day

On Saturday 17th November 2012, Poppy Funeral Care welcomes the local community with an open day to celebrate its official launch. Located in the heart of Eston, Poppy Funeral Care offers high quality funeral services to customers across the North East. The open day is a great opportunity for those who would like to make plans for themselves or for their loved ones and for anyone would like to find out more about services offered within the community.

The open day will run from 10am – 2pm and everyone is welcome to come and meet the team. Mayoress Councillor Denise Bunn will be cutting the ribbon and declaring the business officially open at noon, and there will be tours of the facilities and visiting horse drawn carriages. Local hospice Zoe’s Place will be fundraising at the event with a stall selling seasonal items.

Established by local businessman, Jamie Borthwick, and experienced Funeral Director John Peacock, Poppy Funeral Care combines traditional values with a modern approach to the industry. Having worked with some of the larger funeral organisers for over 17 years, and become increasingly disappointed with rising costs for customers, Jamie and John were inspired to set up on their own to offer a solution. Poppy Funeral Care focuses on the very best possible service at an affordable rate with all facilities under one roof. ‘It’s all about doing things right and having the local community at heart’, Jamie explains.

The regeneration of the company building stands testament to that. Previously a disused, burnt-out shell, it now stands a light, airy, modern building having undergone 12 months of extensive renovation. ‘It’s been a big project,’ says John, ‘but we’ve focused on bringing better facilities and services to the community - we want people to know that they have got a choice of funeral providers. We offer support and help wherever people need it. I’m available at the end of the phone day or night for our customers’. It’s the high level of service that’s already getting Poppy Funeral Care great feedback, ‘I couldn’t have asked for more, they were so caring and professional. They even picked me up to take me to an appointment when I didn’t have transport. Excellent service’, recommends Mrs Ward, one of the first customers to arrange a funeral with Poppy Funeral Care.
