Intercede secures Russian security software deal

Intercede, a Leicestershire-based security software firm, has secured a partnership with Russian company KABEST during a UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) trade mission to Moscow.

KABEST is the security division of a larger group, Asteros, and the business will take on Intercede’s MyID product to sell to the Russian market.

MyID is an identity security solution which allows industries such as financial services, defence firms and governments to create secure systems using devices such as smart cards, phones and tablets.

The software will be sold within the Russian public sector and Government as part of the deal, and Intercede hopes the deal will extend its global reach.

Ivan Burdelo, Technical Director at KABEST, commented: “We were really impressed with Intercede’s MyID solution.

“We can see many applications for it including physical and logical access, mobile credential management and national ID schemes, and it fits perfectly within our product portfolio.”

UKTI’s trade mission, which ended on Wednesday, was headed up by Trade and Investment Minister Lord Green and CBI’s Director-General, John Cridland.

Lord Green commented: “Russia is our fastest growing major export market and, with 140 million consumers looking for quality British products and services, it offers great opportunities for British businesses.

“Important steps such as Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation are making it easier for British firms to do business there.”

The Chief Executive of Intercede, Richard Parris, commented: “KABEST’s business is a good strategic fit for Intercede as we continue to expand our footprint across the globe.

“This year, KABEST has delivered a number of complex projects […] mirroring our sector expertise working with Government and public sector organisations. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with them.”

John Cridland from CBI added: “Mid size businesses like Intercede are vital to driving economic recovery. For many firms, growth depends on exporting more. This Trade Mission will help companies access opportunities in Russia’s fast growing economy.”

Lord Green concluded: “Intercede is a great example of a successful UK exporter, continuing to develop and generate sales from overseas markets.

“The Government views the role of small and medium size enterprises as critical to spurring an export-lead UK economic recovery through innovation and entrepreneurship.”
